Strong Eyebrow Game

Eyebrows are everything and to me it’s all about channeling the likes of Cara Delevingne whose fierce brows are always on point.

Cara Delevingne-face and eyebrow envy

You can’t underestimate the impact of good eyebrows, they shape your face and can really make a difference to your whole appearance. At the moment it’s all about the thick full eyebrows and here are different ways of upping your eyebrow game:

Plucking: I used to be the kid with the thick bushy eyebrows which I used to hate, however I grew to love having fuller eyebrows as they are so much easier to shape even if I am constantly plucking to keep them looking tidy. I love plucking my brows, I find it really therapeutic and so satisfying, but just remember not to get too tweezer happy. There is nothing worse than over plucking and having thin sparse eyebrows so put those tweezers down if you have thin brows and let them grow! It’s important to do this so you can achieve a greater shape afterwards.

Waxing: Although slightly painful it is a quick and easy way to achieve well groomed eyebrows as it takes out many hairs at the same time. If you have sensitive skin however, I would not recommend this technique as the chemicals in the wax can sometimes have adverse effects on the skin.

Threading: After getting your eyebrows threaded you will never look back. It is definitely my favourite beauty treat, and I love the look of freshly threaded brows, I instantly feel good. Again it is quite painful but for me it is not anything like what some people describe, and no pain no gain, right? Threading, unlike waxing is a more precise technique and it is easier to achieve a greater, well-defined shape. Threading removes the hair from the root of the follicle in a quick process so it much more effective than waxing which only gets rid of the hair on the surface. It also lasts much longer and is cheaper!

I hope you liked my thoughts on the different ways out there to keep your eyebrows looking strong.

Here are the eyebrow products I am lusting over at the moment, and as soon as I get my hands on these I would like to do a post on the different ways you can fill your eyebrows.

Marbled Nutella Banana Bread

How cute is this kitchen sign?
I like to pretend that I'm a little domestic goddess over here, however I am no Nigella and definitely too lazy to be given that title. I do enjoy a good baking session though and one of my fave things to bake is banana bread, it is so simple but at the same time so yummy and kinda healthy right? At the moment I have a slight obsession with Nutella, I spread it on nearly everything, so I decided to combine the two to make an incredible marble effect loaf. Who doesn’t love the combo of banana and chocolate.. tastes heavenly!

Recipe

You will need:
  • ·  3 Large ripe bananas
  • ·  130g salted butter
  •   150g caster sugar
  • ·  240g self-raising flour
  • ·  2 eggs
  • ·  Nutella to swirl into the mixture-the more the better
Method:

·   Set the oven to 180 degrees and grease a 9 inch loaf tin and set aside
·   Beat the butter and sugar together until you achieve a creamy consistency
·   Add the 2 eggs and Flour to the mixture and whisk altogether
should resemble something like this

Mash the 3 bananas together and add to the mix, combining all the ingredients

·  Finally swirl as much Nutella as you please into the mixture creating a marble effect, don’t over mix so the swirls stay clearly defined.

·   Pop in the oven for 40-50 minutes, checking to see when a tester comes out clean.
·   Allow to cool for about 15 minutes
·   Eat warm and gooey and I like to serve mine with more Nutella.. im addicted don’t judge.

As you can tell, mine came out a little more crisp than I would have liked,i'm going to blame it on the oven and not on the fact I got distracted watching more OITNB episodes, oops.

I also naughtily enjoyed this for my breakfast but added some strawberries to ease my conscience.

· Hope this has given you some baking inspo and you enjoyed this post!

Holiday reads

I am not ashamed to admit it, I am a huge bookworm, I love nothing more than immersing myself fully into the plot of a really good book and there is no better time to do this than on holiday. When I was younger I used to read all the time, but since University I don’t think I have read a book purely for enjoyment, there is just never enough time sadly. So this summer I have decided I will get back into my reading days and these are the 3 book I decided to bring with me on holiday…

1    Perks of being a Wallflower

Firstly I need to point out that I watched the film before reading this, and as a firm believer that a book is greater than a film version, I feel this was a bad move. However having said this, the book is such a touching story and I think it would be impossible to read this and not feel moved in some way. A coming-of-age story, it is very relatable for most teenagers as we are able to witness all the characters inner struggles and watch them grow through the eyes of the sincere and endearing ‘wallflower’ Charlie, who you can’t help but warm towards. The book is beautifully written and I could not recommend it enough!

2    Here's Looking at you

After reading Mhairi McFarlane’s fab book ‘You had me at hello’, I didn't think this one could compare but I loved this book just as much! A proper ‘chick-flick’ novel and although somewhat predictable that didn't really matter! When I say ‘chick-flick’ though I feel I am not giving the author the credit she deserves, as it wasn't just another soppy, slightly cringe story, it was much more than that. It was funny, witty and compelling and with the novel switching between Anna and James’ perspective it was a very engaging plot-line. I love a good romance and this quirky modern love story did not disappoint!

3      Me Before you

Ok I think this has to be my favourite out of the 3. I love a good cry and as depressing as that sounds when you read a book that you connect with on a deeper level and it affects you emotionally…yes I was crying throughout the last two chapters, then that to me is a good book.
What I loved about this book is how unpredictable it was, I was dying to know what would happen with the unlikely and special bond between Will Traynor and Louisa Clark. Despite the utterly heart-breaking ending, it was a funny, uplifting and very powerful read, that really made me think and put my life into perspective.
Such a superb book that I could not put down but at the same time I really didn’t want it to end.
After I finished reading this I found out they are making it into a film.. SO EXCITING! I will be first to the cinema when this is released, I just hope they can do the book justice.

If anyone has any other book recommendations I would love to hear!

Sunny Mallorca

So, I have recently arrived back to England(sob)after a fab two weeks in Spain with my family.I was so happy to get away and basically spent the majority of my time lying on beaches lapping up the Spanish rays. I LOVE the beach, the sand, the sea, and I just love swimming in the ocean without a care in the world. I think it has something to do with me being a Pisces?

It wasn’t all tanning… we did some exploring too, visiting neighbouring towns, going to Formentor which is the furthest point of the bay and has a beautiful beach with clear blue seas. We visited the markets where there is always a good bargain up for grab, however disappointingly this year I didn't buy anything and this was the same when we visited Palma,I was more content just browsing the streets and looking at what the city had to offer. Oh I did pick up a lipstick at Sephora to add to my ongoing lipstick collection..I couldn't resist.

The highlight of my holiday had to be riding on jet skis, it was amazing!! We spent an hour just speeding all over the bay and because we had chosen an early slot the waters were really calm and we could go super fast. That’s another thing about me, give me anything fast and filled with adrenaline,I’m there!

Here are a few random snaps including some holiday outfits…
