Sunday QOTD

This quote is so true, I think its easy to overlook the little things as people put more and more emphasis on the 'big things' in life but life is made up of moments and its these small moments that really add up. We need to appreciate the little things such as a hug from our loved ones or a phone call with a friend as these are the things we will miss when they are gone.
I think I will do a post later this week on all the little things that make me happy :)

Sunday QOTD

A more light-hearted addition to my quotes but this one just makes me lol and I love it, definitely my new life motto.

Everyone wants a Kim Kardashian booty(including me) so you gotta work for it by doing those squats. I went to a gym class the other week, and the instructor made us squat to the song ‘bring sally up bring sally down”, if you are not familiar with this song its VERY repetitive and basically repeats the same words over and over. We had to squat down every time it said “bring sally down” and my god did this hurt!

As you know I am a firm believer that a swipe of red lippy can instantly make you feel and look amazing, try it! And finally don’t let boys be mean to you!! Great advice.

Hope this quote cheered up your sunday :)

London Haul

I tried to keep my spending to a minimum whilst I was in London but it was hard as everything in the shops was just so pretty, especially the makeup, which I seem to have a never-ending wishlist for at the moment. Here our my buys:

Mac Lipstick- Up the amp(left)
                     Relentlessly Red(right)

I am in love with these colours!! I had been eyeing up, 'Up the Amp' for a while now as I like the purpley shade as it looked a bit different and I am pleased to say it looks great on too. The other shade is called 'relentlessly red', the name is quite misleading as I would say it was more pink than red toned but its a fab bright colour and can't wait to wear this on a night out!

Bobbi Brown -Black Gel Liner
I am so happy to say this is finally mine as I find this gel liner so much easier to apply than a pen liner and you only need a tiny amount so I think it will go along way.

Black Jacket- H&M
As I have work experience next week I needed a jacket to wear that was a little more formal and this one is a great short style and wasn't too expensive either!

Black and White Striped Crop Top- H&M

As I lover of crop tops I think this striped piece is very versatile and could be dressed down in the day and then in the evening team it with a black leather skirt and some heels and you are good to go! It is a lovely material with a high neck and a bargain at only £15.

London Trip

Helloo, I've been on a little get away with my mum...to London. She treated me to tickets to see the show Les Miserable on the west end, it’s our fave musical and I cannot describe how amazing it was. We also did some sightseeing, plenty of shopping (I will do a haul) and indulged ourselves with lots of yummy food.

We stayed in a hotel just off Piccadilly Circus, so we were right in the centre of everything and the city really was alive and buzzing. We were lucky with the weather, sunshine on both days and we could happily walk everywhere, although my feet are definitely feeling it now.

We spent most of the first day around Covent Garden, browsing all the lovely shops, having lunch and generally enjoying the atmosphere on the streets.

Amazing artwork done with biro pen

Les Miserable was performed at the Queens Theatre, its quite a small theatre but I liked this as it felt more intimate and with our seats on the second row, we could see everything. The cast were insane, the set was fantastic and I loved every minute of it. I would even go as far to say it is probably the best thing I've ever seen!

Do you hear the people sing? (i'm still singing the songs)

On the second day we explored London some more and mainly shopped and looked around all the fancy shops like Fortnum and Mason, liberty’s and Harrods. We got coffee outside in the sun on Carnaby Street and it was the perfect spot for people watching, we could have spent hours there.

Before it was time to get the train home, with food on our minds we stumbled upon the restaurant ‘Bill’s’ in the area of Soho, it was cosy and inviting and the decor was quirky and fun. The food itself was yummy, we both opted for the chicken and chorizo burgers with their skinny fries and we were very impressed, I'm now hoping they have this place in Newcastle!
Dream burger mmm
Further down the road was ‘Snog’ which serves frozen yoghurt with a choice of delicious toppings, I couldn't resist trying this with a squirt of chocolate sauce and it was the perfect end to our little trip.

Orange is the New Black - Worth the hype?

As a self-confessed TV series addict, I thought I had to get involved with the hype surrounding 'OITNB' before it was too late. Everyone seems to be buzzing about this hit TV show on Netflix and trust me this is for good reason! After the second episode I was hooked and then continued to binge-watch my way through the next two seasons in about the space of a week(this is becoming a common occurrence)

The OITNB writers have really excelled themselves coming up with a unique plotline and something that hasn’t really be done before. It focuses on life of women in a minimum security prison and when has there been a show focusing entirely on women? Especially such a diverse range of characters, who are all interesting and compelling in their own way. You have to give credit to the incredible talented cast who are able to bring these characters to life.

Although the plot line can be dark filled with plenty edge-of-your-seat drama, it also cleverly fits into the genre of comedy and will have you laughing from beginning to end.I can’t believe we have to wait till June 2015 for season 3, but I bet it will be worth the wait.

So if you have free time this summer I would suggest getting yourself a Netflix subscription and putting on OITNB, it is worth the hype!

Has anyone else watched the show? Has anyone got any other TV series recommendations?

Sunday QOTD

I'm probably not the only one who is guilty of this but I ALWAYS seem to overthink and I need to stop. It does not help. It does not change what is going to happen. It is unnecessary. It can be a real killer especially if your mind is taken up with negative thoughts and worry, creating problems that were not there to begin with, we become our own worst enemies.

So we need to stop overthinking, fill our mind with happy thoughts, live in the now and realise that life does move on so we should enjoy the ride!

Fashion | Festival wishlist

Helloo, as we are now in August the festival season is well underway but there’s still some festivals around the corner, and I am going to Creamfields two weeks today and i'm so excited woo! If you have never heard of Creamfields its the UK's largest dance festival with music from the likes of Avicii, Tiesto, Hardwell, MK and so many more DJ's I want too see.

I am not camping this year (praise the lord) so yay to being the enviable person who rocks up looking clean and fresh faced for the last day of the weekend. Despite having all this time to plan the perfect outfit, the festival is held in Cheshire and the weather can be unpredictable making it nearly impossible to decide what to wear until the day itself. Even so I have put together some festival fashion inspo that I would love to wear.

Denim shorts-RiverIsland/Charm Necklace- Lamoda/Sunnies-Topshop/Flower Garland-New Look/ Gingham dress-Motel Rocks / Sunflower dress-Motel Rocks/ Black Crop top-Topshop/ Gold face glitter-Topshop/ Wellies-River Island

I love the idea of putting gold glitter on my face, I feel festivals are the only time you can get away with this.

Is anyone else going to any festivals? Or have already been?

Review | Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

Helloo, I know I am a bit late to the game and there has already been plenty of raving to do with this product all over the blogger world, but recently when my mum gave me some to try out I was very excited to see for myself if it lived up to the hype.

Firstly the smell of Eucalyptus and Rosemary is so lovely and fresh and not too overpowering that some facial products tend to be. It works like a dream and such a simple and effective way of taking off makeup and also cleansing and polishing the face. I love it so much so that I think this might be the product to change my skincare routine which before this lazily consists of taking my makeup off with a wipe, which is a real no no in the beauty world.(I’m sorry)

It is non-irritant on the skin and the hot-cloth method of removing the cream is a real treat and one which I enjoy doing. After using it for a few weeks I can definitely see an improvement in my skin and after each use I notice my skin is brighter and feels instantly more rejuvenated.

I would definitely recommend this product!
Has anyone else used this?

Top 5 Lipsticks

From Left to right:
Mac Lipstick in Shy Girl
YSL Rouge Volupte in Peach Passion
L'Oreal Colour Riche in Crazy Fuschia
Nars Lipstick in Jungle Red
Mac Lipstick in Rebel

Is there such a thing as owning too many lipsticks? I think not. If there’s one thing I continually spend my money on that I don’t really need, its lipstick, with a growing collection I thought I would share with you some of my faves. This post was inspired by the lovely Zoella who recently did a blog post on her top 5. I have included all different colours suitable for all occasions, ranging from the everyday lip colours to the more daring darker lip, perfect for a night out on the toon (yes, I like to think I’m a Geordie).

As you can see I have two Mac lipsticks in this collection, many people would say Mac are the lipstick queens and I couldn’t really argue with them. They are brilliant. First up I include Mac’s ‘Shy Girl’, this is the ultimate nude and for me it complements my olivey skin tone perfectly and I love pairing this with a black smokey eye on a night out! It is a cremesheen finish, which means it has a creamy texture and is non-drying on the lips, however the only downside is the longevity, which is maybe not as good as other lipsticks and you may find yourself re-applying it more often.

Next up is The YSL Rouge Volupte in Peach Passion, and oh my, this is my favourite lipstick, especially in summer. The colour is a gorgeous coral peachy colour and looks fab with a tan, it is moisturising but the pigmentation is still really good. The packaging is very luxurious and pretty, making it a real treat to put on your lipstick. Simple pleasures, right?

The only lipstick I chose which is not a high-end product is the L’oreal Colour Riche in ‘Crazy Fuschia’. The colour of this is the perfect ‘barbie pink’ and it really adds a pop of colour to your face. Another great summer shade.

4th in line is ‘Jungle red’ by Nars and as a lover of matte lipsticks I love this, it is the perfect bright red statement lip. The texture is great,it glides onto the lips smoothly but then has a matte finish on the lips. It has excellent staying power and would definitely last a whole night out partying!

Lastly is another Mac lipstick called ‘Rebel’, this colour is pretty unique, I would describe it as a deep plum/berry and although probably more suited for the autumn and winter I thought I would include it. I like wearing this on a night up to give my outfit that vampy feel and with it being extremely pigmented, it is a dream to wear.

I hope you enjoyed this post, What is your favourite lipstick?

The Liebster Award

Recently I was nominated for The Liebster Award by Victoria from moderngirlrecommends. Big thank you for the nomination!

So here are the rules...
You must answer all questions that are given to you
Must link back to the person that nominated you
Nominate 11 bloggers who have less than 200 followers
Provide nominees with 11 questions of your choice
Cannot nominate the person who nominated you
Must inform nominees of your nomination
Provide nominees with a link to your post for more info

So Here are the Questions I answered:

1.If you can travel to any destination right now where would it be?
Probably Ibiza, it seems like it is the place to be right now what with every celeb being spotted there, Justin Bieber, Orlando Bloom, the Kardashians and I certainly wouldn’t mind bumping into Leonardo  DiCaprio who is also holidaying there. I would love to get some of my girlfriends together, hop on a plane and just live it up and party in Ibiza.
2.What are three of your favorite books or magazines?
I love reading so this is a toughie but recently I read ‘Me before you’ by Jojo Moyes and I just loved it so at the moment I would have to say that. I also love Harry Potter books and my favourite Magazine would have to be Company or Glamour.
     3. Summer or Winter what is your favorite season?
Now I love summer, but considering we never really get a proper summer in England (this year has been the exception) I think I would say winter. I love wrapping up warm and I prefer the fashions in Winter, Christmas time is such an exciting time of year and makes me really happy just spending time with family, eating loads of yummy food and singing Christmas songs.
4.What made you take the leap to become a blogger?
For ages now I have been reading other peoples blogs and I love reading them so I thought why not give it a go, I also love being able to have somewhere to write down all my thoughts or blog about anything I love, which is a lot of things.
5.What is your favorite type of flower?
This is fairly boring but I would have to say roses they are so pretty.
6.Which do you prefer going to the beach or hanging out at the lake?
BEACH. I am 100% a beach person, I love everything about it, I could spend all day just sunbathing swimming in the sea and people watching it’s so interesting.
7. Favourite car/ dream car?
I am really not a car person and no nothing about cars so I don’t know, something quick, sporty and girly?
8. All-time favorite dessert?
Chocolate cake or anything with chocolate, I am addicted.
9. Ideal/dream  date cool and calm, or fancy, which do you prefer?
Something cool, I would like to do something really fun, spontaneous and a bit different, where we could have a laugh doing it.
10.Which do you prefer watching movies at home or at the movie theater ?
Hmm I like both,  but I think I prefer watching movies at home as it is more relaxing and you can get really cosy and eat loads of food, and I also have a laugh with your friends.
11. If you could use only one makeup product for the rest of your life what would it be?
I would choose bronzer, I live by it and use it pretty much everyday. I love how it can give you that sun kissed glow even in the winter months. It also really enhances your tan in the summer and I think I would be really lost without it.

I nominate the following people, Annie, EmilyEmma, Lauren, HelenAlexandria, Ana, ClaireEmily, Aimee and Em.

Here are my questions for you to answer:

1.       If you could only wear one makeup brand, what would it be?
2.       Who is your celebrity crush?
3.       What is your guilty pleasure?
4.       What made you start blogging?
5.       What is your dream holiday?
6.       Favourite TV programme?
7.       Lipstick or Mascara?
8.       What is your favourite Disney movie?
9.       Do you have a Quote you live by?
10.      Describe your perfect date outfit?
11.      Tell me one thing off your bucket list?

I hope you enjoy answering these questions :)

Classiest Bar Crawl | Manchester

As one of my best friends was finally turning 20 on Saturday, we decided to hit up Manchester and have a classy night of meal and drinks. It did however turn into a mini bar crawl and no, not your typical student bar crawl as I am used to of £2 shots and 3 for £5 trebles(oh how I miss the toon) no, we went to the classiest bars in Deansgate, my bank account must hate me.

Grill on the Alley

Located in a back alley, off the main street in Deansgate, it is quite literally a hidden gem. We were taken down the stairs and given the perfect table, a little booth for the four of us. The atmosphere was superb, the food yummy and in great company, what more could you ask for? I stupidly forgot to take pictures of the food, obviously my desire to eat was too strong, however, I did manage to get pictures of the cocktails.

Firstly I had the spiced Pineapple Mojito, Mojito’s are one of my fave drinks and I love pineapple so this combo was amazing!

We then all sipped on Pornstar Martini’s feeling ever so classy, these were a staggering £10, but hey we were celebrating.

Passion fruit liqueur and Prosecco mmm
Although the menu was a little on the pricey side, especially for students like ourselves, it was definitely worth splashing the cash for a special occasion.

Australasia

We then ventured onto this sleek underground cocktail bar which also doubles as a restaurant. It was very busy in here and we were lucky to grab one of the few tables, otherwise we would have been standing for the night. The cocktails looked very impressive but I can’t say mine tasted that incredible, especially for £8. I also felt very underdressed here as more and more girls arrived in huge heels and mini dresses, definitely regretted my outfit choice of jeans.

glowsticks in the cocktails! how cool?

The Botanist

We moved onto The Botanist, which had a more relaxing atmosphere and I really liked it here. The décor was slightly more quirky with the garden theme and we got a nice table outside, where we could hear the live music. The bartender here was lovely and also good looking which we all agreed on very quickly.

yes more pornstar martini's

Southern 11

Finally after walking around the ever popular Spinningfields and attempting to go into Dukes92 which was a little packed for our liking, we settled on southern 11 purely so we could get a seat. The guy behind the bar was really friendly here as after my friend mistakenly ordered the strongest cocktail in the bar and didn’t like it, he made her a free chocolate cocktail, which was just like drinking toblerone, how nice?

whats a night out without a group selfie?

As none of us were dressed to go on a proper night out and having spent all of our money on fancy cocktails, we left feeling slightly tipsy, some of us more so, and ended the night singing loudly to old school pussycat dolls in the back of a cab. It was a fab night and I would recommend all these bars if you are ever visiting Manchester.

Have you ever been to any of these bars? Anyone have any other recommendations?

Fashion | August Wishlist

1. Bijouled Boutique- Ariel iphone 5 case.£13.99 OK this isn't fashion related but how cute is this? I found these adorable Disney inspired phone cases on Instagram, and they are all hand jewelled. Ariel is probably my favourite Disney princess, and here she is holding the apple logo in her hands, I just need this in my life!

2. Lamoda- Leila Candy Pink Suede block heel sandal. £22 I love these, I can never resist a pair of heels and I do not own a pair of pink heels as of yet, so these would definitely add something to my wardrobe. They are super girly but the gold strap acorss the ankle adds a little edge to them, but also perfect if like me you want support when you are tottering back from town after a night out.

3. River Island- Black leather-look panel racer front dress. £38 I love leather, real or faux and this contrast piece is so perfect. It is effortlessly chic and could be dressed up or down, I love the racer style top as it is very flattering and the length of the dress is ideal.

4. Topshop- Pink Josie crop top by motel. £22 This gingham print is so summery and cute, and I would love to style this with high waisted ripped jeans.

5. Zara- Leather Backpack with clasp. £79.99 Ah this bag is amazing! It is small, compact, leather and has the exciting chain detail on the strap, I would love this hung over my shoulder but with the hefty price tag, I think I’ll just be staring at this through my screen for now(sob)

6. Topshop-Black snake peep toe platforms. £55 You can never have too many pairs of black heels and these black, croc print beauties are fab. With the chunky platform and heel they look like they would be easy to walk in, which is a major bonus. Plus, recently I have been wearing white or cream shoes and these have been a disaster on a night out, especially in the toon where it seems impossible to go out without your poor shoes being utterly ruined, so these would save me the pain!

7. Pretty little things- Amelie coral mesh insert dress. £22 I really like the style of this mesh dress and also the colour, the coral is a perfect shade for the summer and I think this would look great with a tan!

8. Inthestyle- Lauren Pope Mottled print zip skirt £26.99
and print crop top £17.99 I've been eyeing up this two piece ever since I saw Lauren Pope's collection. Co-ords have been a huge fashion hit this summer and I feel this one would also take you into Autumn as the colour is very versatile and I think you could style this in a number of ways.I am a huge fan of monochrome and the pattern is a little bit different which I love.

As you can tell there is a bit of a colour scheme going on with Pink and Black, but pink is my favourite colour and black is just a great colour to wear, so flattering and also perfect to style. I just wish I had endless amounts money,(don't we all) so I could buy everything on this list.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Gossip Girl Tag

Yes,I am a girly girl and yes, I am OBSESSED and always will be with Gossip Girl. It is my favourite TV show of all time, focusing on the ‘scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite’, and arguably starring the best looking cast ever!

After the show coming to an end about a year and a half ago (sob) and after religiously watching all six seasons, I was left with a feeling of loss and left thinking if any another show would be able to fill my GG shaped hole of the fashionable, fabulous and scheming Upper East-Siders.

Well there’s always more shows to binge-watch on Netflix.

Or re-watching all the Gossip Girl series from start to finish, again. There's that too.

In the mean-time here's the tag..

        1. How did you discover the show?
I actually can’t remember sadly, I think I might have just come across it on my own as I’m pretty sure I was the first out of my friends to start watching it, telling anyone who would listen, to do the same-I still do this with my Uni friends.

2. Who's your favorite character?
Blair Waldorf. She is Queen B and no other character compares, she is classy and fabulous and her wardrobe is a never ending source of envy. She can be a bit of a bitch but I kinda love that, she is strong, ambitious and always goes after what she wants, often leading to her evil scheming and manipulation. However, she does have another side, I more softer, insecure side and her relationship with Chuck Bass is just perfect.

3.Who would you see yourself being friends with on the show?
I honestly do not know who I would be friends with, I would like to think Serena and Blair but then I don’t know how I would have coped with their scheming ways and they were fairly mean to each other.

4. Chair, or Dair?
Its all about CHAIR. I love Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf, the beloved TV couple whose on-off relationship throughout the series is a source of happiness but also heart-ache for most fans, as most of the time things do not go to plan.

5. What's your favourite ship that would never actually happen?
Hmm this is a hard one. Maybe Lily and Nate, he did love the older women and this would certainly have caused a whole load of drama.

6. If you were to be a character who would you be?
Can I be Blair, she is my fave after all

7. Have you read the book series?
No I dint even realise there was a book series oops

8. Who's your crush on the show?
Chuck bass, he is beautiful, charming, stylish and when he says the words,'im chuck bass’ I think I die a little. He is also the epitome of the ‘bad boy’ that every girl loves right?  I do think I’m a little bit sad to be so obsessed with a fictional character as I am with chuck bass but oh well.

9. What was your first initial thought of the show?
.. I loved it

I love discussing gossip girl, especially after I have recommended it to someone so, if you have any thoughts I would love to hear.

xoxo
